Our Objectives:

  • To provide clients with a clear and concise fire risk assessment that is free of any unnecessary jargon, assess the risk in a practical way rather than blindly follow the Fire Safety Order 2005 regulations and work with clients to find solutions that will mitigate the risks identified.

  • To provide clients with a solution that will allow them to administer their fire risk assessments in a time saving, efficient and effective way.

Both of these objectives follow the PAS-79-1:2020 code of practice. BSI has commented that the key objective of PAS-79-1:2020 include to promote a framework for the assessment of fire risk and promote better understanding of fire risks and fire safety by organisations and non-fire specialists.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Fire Risk Assessment takes a careful look at your premises and the people who use them, from a fire prevention perspective. It will help determine the chances of a fire occurring, the dangers from fire that the workplace poses for the people that use it and how people escape from a fire, should the worse happen.

The purpose of the Fire Risk Assessment is to help determine whether the existing fire precautions are adequate and relative to the overall risks presented or if improvements are needed to keep people safe.

A Fire Risk Assessment is a legal requirement. If you own, manage or operate a business, you need to comply with fire safety law. The main law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or “the Fire Safety Order”. It applies across England and Wales and came into force on 1 October 2006.

If you are responsible for a building, for example an employer, owner or occupier of premises that aren’t a ‘single private dwelling’ (a private home), you need to make sure a suitably competent person completes a Fire Risk Assessment. It is your duty to identify fire risks and hazards in your premises and take appropriate action.

In addition, if five or more people work at your premises or your business has a licence under enactment in force, you’ll need your fire risk assessment to be a written record.

The assessment will take place in two parts, the first will be to gain evidence of documentation and recordings, and the second part of the assessment will be a walk around of the premises to examine fire safety both internally and externally.

This will depend on the type and size of your property, often ranging from 2 to 6 hours.

For some general estimates, visit our Fire Risk Assessment page: Click Here

There will be minimal disruption during our visit as we are conducting a visual inspection only. We will of course need to spend time with the responsible person to go through your records and to walk around the premises.

We appreciate that some businesses that are open to the public may not want customers to see an assessor going into lofts and opening cupboards etc. For these customers we take a flexible approach and can conduct the visual inspection part of the assessment before the premises are open to the public.

When your fire assessment has been completed a link is sent to you via email where you set-up a password that will give you access to your own portal.

In the portal you will see the completed .pdf assessment, plus listed separately the significant findings and what needs to be done.

Simply click on a significant finding and from there it will tell you what the issue is and what needs to be done. Within the significant finding, you can set a task to a member of your team or contractor to get the issue resolved. Once resolved, you can add photos and text and mark it as completed.

Once you have marked it as completed the system automatically updates the fire risk assessment showing that the significant finding has been resolved and ensuring you always have an up to date fire risk assessment.

The unique management level of the portal means that clients who are responsible for more than one property can have oversight across all their properties in one place, making the management of Fire Risk Assessments an easy task.
